Valuations and advice

Open to the public every Thursday & Friday between 10am and 3pm (except sale weeks) for our free, drop in valuation mornings; our team of experts welcome your visit and are on hand to offer advice and guidance not only on valuing your items, but also best method of sale.

If you cannot make one of our valuation mornings, our team would welcome the opportunity of a home visit, or alternatively you can email us images of your items, from which we can advise.

Whilst we have a wide range of expertise in-house, we also have the ability to call on specific experts if needed. Our monthly sales typically incorporate a wide range of items, from furniture and ceramics, to pictures, art and items of interest as well as jewellery, silver, clocks and watches.

Tamlyns Auction Rooms also offer more formalised valuation services for Probate, Insurance or Family Division purposes. Just give one of our team a call to discuss. We can also arrange and advise on house clearance services.

Our friendly and professional team at Tamlyns Auction Rooms appreciate that often circumstances surrounding putting items to auction can be challenging, which is why we try to make things as easy and straightforward as we possibly can for vendors and buyers alike.

Ed Bailey BA (Hons)

General Valuer / Books & Maps Specialist

Phone: 01278 445241

Ed joined the Tamlyns team in June 2015 as a General Valuer and Books and Maps Specialist after spending five years at a leading provincial auction house in Surrey.

There he oversaw the management of the saleroom and held regular sales before relocating to the South West to join the team at Tamlyns.

Having been raised by his parents visiting auction houses and fairs as a child, he has a keen interest in several areas in addition to books and maps, which he hopes to develop in his new position at Tamlyns.

Ed would be delighted to value and offer advice to those wishing to sell single items or collections, and can also complete valuations for probate and insurance purposes. Ed has recently taken up the gavel and can regularly be seen on the rostrum at monthly auctions.
