Tamlyns have made the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming Monthly Auction of Collectable items due to take place on Wednesday 17th June 2020. Whilst we are actively working to restore business to a somewhat “normal” nature, we are doing so in a phased manner in response to current market demands. We hope to get our Auction Rooms back up and running as soon as possible and we already have many items in storage ready to put to auction when we are able to do so.

The safety of our staff and you, our customers continues to be our paramount concern. The re-opening of the saleroom will only happen when we can guarantee everybody’s safety.

Please continue to forward all general enquiries to admin@tamlyns.co.uk and please wait at least 72 hours before forwarding any un-responded emails. We will respond to you as soon as we can.

We hope you continue to stay safe, stay well and stay healthy and we will see you again soon.

Following the most recent government advice, we are pleased to announce that at Tamlyns it will be business as usual as of 1st June 2020. We have had to work hard over the last couple of weeks to put into place all of the required measures to protect both our staff and you, our clients, moving forward.

Unfortunately the logistics of running our usual Auction Room Services are proving quite tricky and will require some further work on our part to ensure that the required levels of protection are in place before we re-open this element of the business to the public. We ask therefore that you continue to bear with us on this front. Of course in the meantime we would still welcome all enquiries.

Other than this, all of the other departments and the services we usually offer will be fully functional as of 1st June 2020. We have already seen an increase in enquiries and activity levels over the last couple of weeks and very much hope that this continues. As of 1st June our offices will be staffed, but we ask if you can ring ahead to make an appointment where possible.

If you have a department specific enquiry we ask that you make your initial enquiry via the appropriate department email below and a relevant member of the team will come back to you.

Please try not to contact us unless it is urgent to do so as we are already experiencing delays in replying.

At Tamlyns, the safety of our staff and customers is our highest priority.
Following on from the speech made on Monday 23rd March 2020, we are following government advice and closing our doors until further notice.
During this time, we will be operating from a reduced workforce to be able to support our staff during this uncertain time. This is the first time we have had to do so in over 140 years of us being in business, and we do so, as we want to be able to continue for many more years.

Our online auction will still operate however processing after will be slower than normal. There will be no collections or postage arranged until the office reopens. Rest assured, all items are securely stored.

Please bear with us through this difficult time.
Where possible, we ask that all enquiries are sent to admin@tamlyns.co.uk to ensure we deal with all enquiries in a timely and orderly fashion.

We look forward to seeing you again soon, stay safe and stay healthy.

If your email is urgent, please forward to admin@tamlyns.co.uk, if not we will respond as soon as possible.

19th March 2020 13:20

We want to start by thanking all of our clients for supporting us through this difficult time.

As you will know, the current circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak are leaving many businesses in a position where they are advising staff to work from home, self-isolate if they are high risk and keeping the working environment as virus free as possible.

Considering the broadcast made by Boris Johnson on Monday 16th March 2020, Tamlyns' management team have made the decision to host the Collectors & Militaria Auction on the 25th March 2020 as a timed online auction.

This means the following: -

·       To be able to bid, you will need to register with the-saleroom.com and place your bids on the lot(s) you wish to purchase. Like eBay, you will be notified if you are out bid giving you the chance to place a further bid on the lot(s).

·       You will not be able to place commission or telephone bids for this type of auction.

·       Unfortunately, there will be no viewing days for this auction. If you would like a condition report on any item, then please email saleroom@tamlyns.co.uk and we will endeavour to get back to you as soon as we can, but please bear with us.

·       Purchasing on this type of auction does mean that on top of our usual 21.6% Buyers Premium (inclusive of VAT) there will be an additional internet surcharge of 5% plus VAT on the hammer price.

·       Our Auction Room will not be open to the general public until further notice.

·       All collections will need to be made by appointment - if you are unable to confirm a time with our staff, then all collections will be treated on a one in, one out basis to allow us time to deal with each person as we are currently operating from a locked premises. Our Auction Room & offices are not open to the general public unless an appointment has been made. Please contact us by phone or email should you need to discuss anything. We ask for the safety of all our staff and clients, that you do not come to the offices without arranging beforehand.

We will have our Collectors and Militaria auction online by close of play Friday and should you wish to have a notification sent to you, then please respond to this email. We will provide you with a link to the-saleroom.com as well as a PDF version of the catalogue.

We thank everyone for their support and understanding during this unfortunate time and hope that all of you remain in good health.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us on the details below.
