Now is the time now to make use of the Young Farmers Entitlements Scheme?
In a recent article in Farmers Weekly it was found that 40% of farmers view succession as not relevant to them.
Tamlyns Agricultural Department are experienced in applying to the Young Farmers Entitlements Scheme, which offers up to a 25% uplift on the standard yearly BPS payment; which can be used to help fund the restructuring of the wider farming businesses; with a view to the changing farm payments model.
An applicant to the scheme must be at least 18 years old but under 40 years of age, and has taking over control or set up a new business for the first time within the 5 years prior to their first successful BPS application.
The scheme is limited to the first 90 hectares, and can only be claimed for a limited period. The usual BPS qualifying criteria and cross-compliance rules will also apply.
